48th Annual Leslie Barklamb Scholarship – 2021
The Victorian Flute Guild hosted the 48th Leslie Barklamb Scholarship in 2021, with preliminary rounds held on Sunday 29 August at Methodist Ladies’ College in Kew. The finals concert took place on Friday 3 September at 7:00 PM at Armadale Uniting Church.
Participants competed in the following sections:
- 11 Years and Under
- Set Piece: Pastorale by J.C. Bach
- Own Choice (max 3 minutes)
- Prizes: 1st $60, 2nd $30
- 13 Years and Under
- Set Piece: Carthorse Rag by Norton
- Own Choice (max 4 minutes)
- Prizes: 1st $80, 2nd $40
- 15 Years and Under – Margaret Brooke Award
- Set Piece: Allegretto Opus 16 by Godard
- Own Choice (max 5 minutes)
- Prizes: 1st $100, 2nd $50
- VCE/IB Section
- Two contrasting works, at least one accompanied
- Maximum time: 10 minutes
- Prizes: 1st $100, 2nd $50
- Intermediate Section – 18 Years and Under – Nariida Coleman Award
- Set Piece: Cantilena (2nd movement) from Sonata by Poulenc
- Own Choice (max 8 minutes)
- Prizes: 1st $400, 2nd $200
- Senior Section – 25 Years and Under – Leslie Barklamb Scholarship
- Two contrasting works, at least one accompanied
- Maximum time: 15 minutes
- Prizes: 1st $1000, 2nd $500
All entrants were required to be current members of the Victorian Flute Guild and to provide their own accompanists. Winners were awarded cheques or vouchers.
