On Sunday 25 August, 2024, the Victorian Flute Guild welcomed flautists young and old to the Fantastic Flute Fun Play Day at James Forbes Academy, Scotch College in Hawthorn. From 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, the room buzzed with excitement as players gathered for an afternoon of joyful ensemble music-making.
Led by the ever-enthusiastic Neil Fisenden, the session brought together the entire flute family—from the tiniest piccolo to the largest bass. Participants enjoyed specially arranged pieces designed to include flutes of all sizes and players at all stages, making for a truly inclusive and entertaining experience.
The program embraced the playful spirit of the day, encouraging everyone to try something new, connect with fellow flautists, and simply have fun.
With music stands provided and flutes in hand, attendees explored vibrant repertoire that was both accessible and exciting. The Victorian Flute Guild was thrilled to offer this event free for members and at a low cost for visitors, reflecting its commitment to building community and making music accessible for all.
Thank you to everyone who attended, and to Neil for his inspiring leadership. We look forward to welcoming you back for more events that celebrate the joy of playing together.
