2025 Leslie Barklamb Scholarship Competition – Winners Announced

The Victorian Flute Guild is pleased to announce the prize-winners of the 2025 Leslie Barklamb Scholarship Competition.

Preliminary rounds took place at Methodist Ladies’ College, Kew, on Sunday 31 August 2025. Finalists from the Intermediate and Senior Sections then performed in the Finals on Sunday 7 September 2025, held at St John’s Anglican Church, 552 Burke Road, Camberwell.
Both events featured impressive performances, confident stagecraft, and polished ensemble work.


🏅 Junior Section

Under 11s

  • 1st Place: Vihan Dalal

  • 2nd Place: Jungwon Oh

  • Honourable Mentions: Shuling Xie, Lucas Tang, Suzanne Siu, Lesley Guo

Under 13s

  • 1st Place: Daniel Yu

  • 2nd Place: Vihan Dalal

  • Honourable Mentions: Jayden Ean Hui, Micaiah Jiang

Under 15s

  • 1st Place: Vihan Dalal

  • 2nd Place: Jamie Sun

  • Honourable Mentions: Clare Fan, Kristina Li, Alex Zhou

The Junior competitors played with confidence and musical awareness. Their enthusiasm made the morning sessions a pleasure to hear.


🎼 Intermediate Section

  • 1st Place: Ahra Kim

  • 2nd Place: Stella Choi

Competitors showed expressive phrasing and solid technical control. Many pieces featured confident articulation and clear tone colours.


🎓 VCE / IB Section

  • 1st Place: Stella Choi

  • 2nd Place: Isabella Madden

Performers demonstrated maturity in interpretation, as well as careful attention to style and dynamics.


🌟 Senior Section

  • 1st Place: Emica Taylor

  • 2nd Place: Braden Simm

  • Finalists: Grace Gao, Maria Zhdanovich

The Senior Section offered a high level of artistry and refined technique. Each player delivered a thoughtful and engaging performance.

Congratulations to every prize-winner and finalist. Each competitor should feel proud of their achievement. The Guild also extends sincere thanks to the adjudicators, collaborative pianists, teachers, volunteers and families who supported the event.
