2024 Flute Ensemble Competition Winners

The Victorian Flute Guild’s 30th Annual Flute Ensemble Competition took place on Sunday 26 May, 2024 at Methodist Ladies’ College in Kew, bringing together flute players of all ages for a vibrant day of ensemble performance, collaboration, and celebration.

From duets to large flute choirs, the event featured a rich variety of ensemble types and repertoire, with sections for primary-aged beginners through to advanced and professional musicians in the Open Section. Ensembles included traditional flute groupings as well as creative combinations with other instruments and percussion.

This year’s performances drew from a wonderfully diverse repertoire, including classical favourites, movie themes, contemporary works, and pop arrangements. Highlights included:

🎶 Grand Finale

To celebrate three decades of flute ensemble music, the event closed with a massed performance by the Open Flutes Collective, presenting Vivaldi’s Gloria and In Remembrance by Burl Red — a powerful and moving conclusion to an unforgettable day.
